Saturday's HD & WG Rocks Friendship Heights Neighborhood

As the clock struck 10:30 and the guests began to roll in, excitement rose to a fever pitch in anticipation of the commencement of the long awaited third ever Health Devotional and Workout Group. A surprise addition to the occasion, Anis charmed us all by cooking fresh pancakes, thereby providing a delicious brunch to those who had come from near and far to learn about health in religion and to sweat it out on the yoga mats. After reading and discussing the selected Writings on the importance of the Fast, moderation, and health, the group took off on the 1-mile walk around the Friendship Heights neighborhood, braving the chilly wind and dodging in and out of traffic all in the name of fitness. A few courageous and hearty individuals stayed afterward for a challenging but energizing 30 minutes of yoga using Bob Harper's Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga DVD. As quads burned and the pounds melted away, we could hear the cries of the intrepid souls as they left their reservations behind and charged on through the poses. We all grew a little that day; some a little braver, some a little crazier, all a lot stronger. Plans for the next HD & WG were made, contact info was left, and pancakes were eaten (in moderation of course :D) and as the farewells were said we all knew that the Friendship Heights neighborhood would simply never be the same again.
